If it’s proven that any school employee or adminsitrator broke confidentiality by exposing the identity of a bullied child, they could face serious consequences, including:

  1. Loss of Federal Funding (FERPA: 20 U.S.C. § 1232g)
  2. Lawsuits for Damages (CA Civil Code § 1708)
  3. State Education Penalties (CA Ed. Code § 234.1)
  4. Job Suspension or Termination (CA Ed. Code § 4492)
  5. License Revocation (Title 5 CCR $ 80303)
  6. Criminal Charges (Child Endangerment (CA Penal Code § 2738)
  7. Public Censure or State Reporting (State Board Policy)
